Schedule the Joy
We schedule everything.
Meetings. Appointments. Deadlines. Workouts. Errands. Obligations. Our calendars quickly become a running list of everything we have to do, while the things that truly bring us joy often get squeezed into whatever time remains.
But what if we scheduled joy, too?
At Black Women For Self, we believe caring for ourselves includes intentionally making room for experiences that feel good. Joy doesn’t always have to be spontaneous, extravagant, or earned after we’ve finished everything else. Sometimes self-care looks like deciding, in advance, that pleasure, creativity, movement, connection, and rest deserve space in our lives.
That’s part of what makes this free, upcoming event, Wellness in Full Bloom, feel so aligned with our work.
On October 18, BWFS will join Jasmine Mastin and Saved By the Juice for a day centered on wellness, connection, and caring for ourselves through life’s changing seasons. Guests will be invited to slow down and engage in experiences ranging from movement and meaningful conversation to flowers, tea, coffee, and creative expression.
The beauty of the day is that wellness isn’t presented as another assignment. Instead, we experience it through our bodies, our senses, our creativity, and our connections with one another.
As we move into a new season, consider putting something on your calendar simply because it brings you joy. Make the reservation. Buy yourself the flowers. Take the class. Plan the outing. Spend the afternoon doing something that makes you feel like yourself.
Don’t wait for joy to open up in your schedule. Make one.
And on October 18, we hope you’ll schedule a little joy with us at Wellness in Full Bloom.
