The Black Women For Self Story
Black Women For Self was started out of a lack of intentionality. My Co-Founder and former Co-Director, Chalia Scott, and I found ourselves being intentional with everyone and everything except us. We imagined how many other Black women were facing a deficit in self-care and decided to start a radical self-care revolution for our sisters and ourselves in need. The organization is founded by Black women, for Black women, with the belief that self-care is not a luxury but a necessity. BWFS advocates for the holistic well-being of Black women, recognizing that by investing in ourselves, we can live healthier lives and better serve our families, communities, and society at large.
At BWFS, we envision a future where Black women thrive, their self-care is celebrated, and they are empowered to lead lives filled with purpose, joy, and fulfillment. Together, we can create a transformative space that uplifts, inspires, and encourages Black women to choose themselves. At BWFS, we are dedicated to uplifting Black women, empowering them to prioritize their well-being, and embracing self-care as an essential part of their lives. Our mission is to create a safe and inclusive space where Black women can release, rest, and pour into themselves, which helps them heal and foster personal growth, resilience, and self-love.
